After Exploration

I originally referred to my dance business as an exploratory project because I wasn’t only interested in teaching classes, I was also convinced that a different business model would work for our dance community.

I’ve been Revolution Modern Dance for 6 years and I’m ready to transition into supporting other creative organizers. Going forward I will be sharing more behind the scenes about being an independent dance teacher. I will be documenting what I’ve discovered in Frederick, Maryland so others can learn from my experience.

At the same time, I will be more focused on updating my website which reaches dancers without social media.

Classes aren’t changing. I’m still focused on my core values:

  • Accessible - offering affordable classes where my dancers live

  • Respectful - offering open classes, dynamic & differentiated instruction, prioritizing gender neutral and trauma informed techniques

  • Cooperative - supporting local businesses, musicians, and artists

These values are clear, but it’s simpler to say that I want to make it easier for folks in my city to dance more at home.
