Enjoy an evening of Swing Dancing under the stars at the Sky Stage in downtown Frederick!

Starting at 7pm, Amanda will offer a beginner lesson covering swing and blues basics. Social dancing will follow until 10pm. The music will be moderate tempo jazz, blues, and soul for lindy hop/WCS/blues dancers - taking into consideration the hot summer weather and the concrete dancing surface. For 2025, this event will run every first Wednesday, May through October, weather permitting.

  • Pre-registration is not required! There are no tickets!

  • Suggested $5-10 donation at the door. Donations are used to pay instructors and DJs with the remainder passed directly to the Sky Stage to support other arts and music programming.

  • May 10 only!! West Coast Swing Night! Starting at 7pm, Mara Flores led a beginner lesson covering west coast swing basics.

Special Events in 2022

  • For September 1st - we were treated to LIVE music with Willie Barry & his Chaperones (Band FB Page Link). This band is popular with regional dancers, playing upbeat rockabilly, traditional rock, and americana.

    For October 6th - we hosted LIVE music with Sweet Something (Band Website Link). Retro, smooth, and timeless. Sweet Something was created by vocalist and frontwoman, Ariana Harbin, with the intention of bringing her favorite jazz tunes of yesteryear back to life. Expect to hear the great music of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sinatra, Nat King Cole and more during the band's performance.

Staying Healthy:

  • Proof of vaccination is not currently required.

  • Dancers are welcome to wear masks, but they are not currently required.

  • Please bring a face mask with you. If someone else is wearing a mask, assume that you need to wear yours when talking and dancing with them.

  • Don’t come out sick. We dance every month, and we will be happy to catch you next time!
